As a Cape Cod wedding photographer, I’m always honored to be a part of capturing special moments, but when it involves good friends, the experience becomes even more memorable. Witnessing Justin and Nicole’s Cape Cod proposal at Chatham Bars Inn was so enchanting, and I’m so excited to share these photos!
Nicole and Justin’s love story began amidst the sparkling waters of Cape Cod. They first crossed paths as sailing instructors at the Orleans Yacht Club, where they spent their summers growing up. A tale of coastal romance, it was only fitting that their engagement took place on a sailboat! When Justin approached me to photograph this once-in-a-lifetime moment, I was thrilled but also a tad nervous. These two are not just clients but also dear family friends!
Our friend Alex, one of the boat captains at Chatham Bars Inn, collaborated with Justin and me to create the perfect evening. As I arrived at the dock, Alex helped me discreetly hide in the sailboat’s cabin, ready to capture the proposal. With the sun beginning to set, Nicole and Justin found themselves on the bow of the boat, and that’s when Alex gave me the signal. As I emerged from the cabin, Nicole’s surprise was visible. She had no idea I was on board, adding an extra touch of magic to the occasion.
Sailing Into the Sunset
Once Nicole excitedly said yes to Justin, emotions were soaring as we embarked on a beautiful sail. The waters of Chatham Harbor and Aunt Lydia’s Cove were amazing to navigate, as it was the perfect summer evening. I captured some beautiful photos while on the sailboat, and we had the best sunset. There is nothing like a sailboat proposal, as it’s a different scenery.
Upon our return to Chatham Bars Inn, their families eagerly awaited us at the dock, ready to toast the newly engaged couple. The celebration continued with champagne served in one of the resort’s private cabanas, set against the serene beach. It truly felt like paradise.
Chatham Bars Inn holds a special place in my heart, as I had the privilege of getting married there. The elegance and coastal charm of this venue never fail to captivate me. It’s the perfect setting for a dreamy Cape Cod wedding. I’m so excited that this special place also now holds a place in Nicole and Justin’s hearts!
