A Summertime Duxbury Maritime Wedding

On a hot summer day, Laura and Matt’s friends and family gathered for their Duxbury Maritime wedding. It was a wedding day inspired by the ocean, and everything came together so perfectly. What made the day truly special, was how each aspect of their plan was purposeful and held sentimental value to Laura and Matt, whether it was the selection of their wedding venue or including family members in meaningful ways throughout the day.

Matt and Laura’s paths crossed at Plymouth Yacht Club. At the time, Laura’s brother was working there, as well as Matt. One day, Laura and her mother wanted to go out sailing for the day, and Matt and Laura ended up in the same boat and noticed how easy the conversation was. In the midst of their relationship, Matt prepared the perfect proposal. They were staying at a family friend’s cottage in Priscilla Beach and walking along the beach when he proposed. Later that evening, she thought they were going to a shuffleboard tournament at her grandmother’s house, but it was their surprise engagement party!

Laura and her bridesmaids got ready for the day in a gorgeous space with plenty of natural light flowing into the home. Once she was in her wedding gown, she took the time to surprise her parents with a present. Both of them were so surprised by the personal gifts, and you could feel their love for their sweet daughter.

They decided to share a first look to calm their nerves before the ceremony and get the majority of the formal wedding portraits done. Before seeing one another, they stood back to back and privately read letters to one another. Once Laura softly touched Matt on the shoulder and he turned around, he was in awe of how beautiful she looked. They took their time, enjoying seeing each other for the first time that day, and it was a precious moment. The home at which we planned for their first look and formal portraits had a sprawling, perfectly manicured lawn overlooking Priscilla Beach and White Horse Rock, a recognizable landmark of the neighborhood.

Their ceremony took place outdoors under a sailcloth tent while overlooking the harbor. They spend so much time on the bay that they wanted to incorporate as many coastal details as possible. Instead of choosing just one person to officiate the ceremony, they decided to have their siblings and close family members take turns. Each person would read different parts, and it was really touching.

The florals that Sharon of Fields of Flora created were simply incredible! Her bouquets had a bright summer color palette and were truly unique. It was a change from the traditional coastal hydrangea bouquets I see at many weddings. All the floral centerpieces throughout the reception gave the space a pop of color! Arrangements brought an eclectic blend of wildflowers, greenery and soft colorful blooms together in the most eye-catching way!

There were many laughs as loved ones made toasts that brought back several memories. Laura and Matt stepped out for a few minutes to take some sunset photos as the sun began setting. These are always some of my favorite images throughout the day when the sky gives us shades of yellow and pink over the water. The night continued a fun celebration with a live band and lots of dancing!

Celebrating Matt and Laura with their family and friends was a true joy! I’m beyond excited to capture yet another family celebration for them this coming summer on Cape Cod! Enjoy looking through some of my favorite photos from their Duxbury Maritime wedding.
