Maria and Wes’ tented wedding on Duxbury Beach was everything they had hoped for and more. Maria’s family has managed Duxbury Beach Park and owned Blakeman’s Restaurant for over 20 years, so she grew up dreaming of this day (as did her parents!). There had never been a wedding held at Blakeman’s, so they were beyond excited to be the first!
Maria and Wes first met back in pre-school. Later on, throughout high school and college their paths crossed often, thanks to mutual friends. Finally, by junior year, Wes worked up the courage to ask for Maria’s phone number. Their first date was a long walk on the beach… and the rest is history!
On the day of their engagement, they watched a Boston Bruins playoff game with family, followed by another a walk on Duxbury Beach, that this time ended in the greatest surprise!
Months of meticulous planning led to a beautifully curated wedding, with a style that can best be described as quintessential, coastal New England. I absolutely loved the dreamy color palette, which was a blend of pretty pastels like blush pinks, soft eucalyptus greens, light blues and light khaki beige.
Although September 14th brought patchy sunshine, mostly overcast skies and few rain showers (typical of New England!), the heavy rain held-off just long enough. Following their church ceremony at Holy Family in Duxbury, we visited a private dock and the iconic Powder Point Bridge for outdoor portraits.
The entire day was filled with personal touches, nearest and dearest to their hearts. Details included custom flavors of FarFar’s Danish Ice Cream (see Maria and Wes’ engagement session at FarFar’s), hand painted watercolor stationery, local Powder Point Oysters, gorgeous florals designed by Maria’s mom at Kingston Florist, and sea glass in memory of Maria’s Mimi (her “something blue”). The list of thoughtful details goes on! Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the night (and there were many!), was the surprise 21st birthday celebration for Maria’s sister and Maid of Honor. The bride and groom surprised her with a birthday cake… and a Smirnoff!
Following this amazing celebration Maria and Wes mini-mooned on Nantucket.
Congratulations Maria and Wes. I am so honored to have been a part of your day, and now to call you both friends.
