On a warm summer evening, I met up with one of my 2023 couples, Emma and John, for their Boston engagement photos! Leading up to their session, we were still determining if the weather would hold out for us based on the forecast. Thankfully, the perfect summer evening ended with a golden glowy sunset.
The energy-filled Charles River Esplanade was a great starting point for their engagement session. This popular area had people running, sailing, and picnicking on the docks. It was the perfect day to be out enjoying the day. Although the area was busy, it felt like we were the only people there as John and Emma’s chemistry blocked out all the busyness and noise. As a Boston engagement photographer, I love the Charles River area for photos. Anywhere on the water is my favorite.
Oakley, their loveable and energetic furbaby, was included in Emma and John’s photos! Whenever I have couples who want some engagement or wedding photos with their dogs, it’s so much fun. I always recommend that you have a dog handler so that we can make the most of our time together. Emma’s dad joined us to care for Oakley, and once we captured cute photos of the three of them, he took him back home! Another bonus of having someone else there, they can capture the dog’s attention above my camera. Whether bribing them with treats or bringing their favorite toy, it works wonders!
After getting some fantastic photos with the picturesque background of Charles River, we headed to Beacon Hill. The incredible Acorn Street in Boston is one of the city’s most photographed streets. I usually photograph engagement photos and even weddings at the beach, so it was nice to photograph in an urban setting. The charming cobblestone street and the gas-lit lamps gave these photos a romantic feeling. One of my favorite engagement session locations in Boston is Beacon Hill!
